Traore was cast out on loan to Vitesse and then Ajax but after returning from the Dutch giants, he was allowed to secure a transfer to Ligue 1.
His time at Chelsea was full of frustration – making just 16 senior appearances – but he has scored six goals in his first 15 starts with the French club.
Mourinho handed the Burkino Faso international his Chelsea debut in September 2015 and Traore is open to a return to the Premier League to link up with his former mentor.
He told Onze Mundial: ‘Manchester United? Why not?
‘I will work hard and, if opportunities open, why not?’
He added on his time at Chelsea: ‘I fought, I reached the first team.
‘But, in Chelsea, for a player from the training centre, it’s almost impossible to impose yourself as a starter.
‘And I wanted to be a starter. I’m proud of what I did there before I left.’
