Jurgen Klopp held talks with Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward about a move to Old Trafford, a new biography has claimed.
According to ‘Klopp: Bring the Noise’ by Raphael Honigstein, Woodward flew out to Germany shortly before the end of David Moyes’ reign as United boss in 2014.
United’s chief met with Klopp in order to convince the German to quit Borussia Dortmund and make the move to the Premier League.
In the book, Woodward is claimed to have said that United was ‘like an adult version of Disneyland’ in a bid to persuade Klopp that Old Trafford was the right choice.
But the current Liverpool boss is said to have found Woodward’s sales pitch ‘unsexy’ and instead he opted to stay for another season at Dortmund.
Just six months after his meeting with Woodward, Klopp had also been approached by Manchester United and Tottenham.
