Manchester United defender Luke Shaw is likely to leave the club in January after Jose Mourinho was told he must sell before he can buy more players.
United have spent close to £300million since Mourinho was appointed 18 months ago and recouped just £8m last summer following the sale of Adnan Januzaj to Real Sociedad.
After another £150m outlay last summer, Mourinho has been told he must offload some players before buying again in the January transfer window.
Shaw, 22, is a prime candidate to be sold off after making just two appearances so far this term.
The full-back could find his chances of game time are even slimmer once Marcos Rojo recovers from injury and the England defender has attracted interest from Tottenham, Southampton and Everton.
United spent £29m on Shaw in 2014 but are unlikely to get close to that figure if he’s sold in January.
Mourinho wants to sign a creative player in January after missing out on Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan last summer.
Mesut Ozil is United’s number one target and they could bid for him in January to avoid an auction in the summer when his Arsenal deal runs out.
