Tierney is one of Celtic’s standout performers and has helped the Hoops take the Scottish Premiership by storm again this year.
The Scotland international was being tipped to join Manchester United but has instead penned a new deal over in Glasgow.
And the Manchester Evening News say Kierney made that decision because he knows Jose Mourinho really wants to land Rose from Tottenham.
It is said the Red Devils scouted the 20-year-old repeatedly over the last year, with left-back earmarked as a place in sore need of strengthening.
Luke Shaw’s Old Trafford career looks to be drawing to a close with the England international still out in the cold.
The Red Devils have often deployed the likes of Ashley Young and Daley Blind in that position with varying success.
But the fact remains that, down the left hand side, United are weaker than the likes of Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea.
The MEN say Tierney is aware that, despite himself being scouted repeatedly, Mourinho really wants Rose.
The England international nearly left in the summer after questioning Spurs’ transfer policy.
However, though he ultimately stayed put, Rose did state a desire to one day play up north.
“I will say this too — I will play up north,” he told The Sun.
“I don’t know exactly when, but I will get back up north and play some football somewhere.
“I moved away from home (from Leeds to Spurs) at 16.
“Yes I’ve got team-mates who have moved away from families in South Korea and Argentina, but I have been away for over ten years now and I don’t get to see my mum that often.
“I am going to make it my priority before I retire to play football up there.”
