Jones was forced off in the 25th minute of the clash at Wembley in what appeared to be a hamstring injury.
Just moments before the defender had to be replaced by Liverpool’s Joe Gomez, Jones made a heroic goal-line clearance to deny Leroy Sane’s effort.
The news will come as a huge blow to Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho who has a host of players on the treatment table.
However, the Portuguese boss has received good news with Paul Pogba, Marcos Rojo and Michael Carrick all due back after the international break.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is also on the comeback trail, but is still training separately from the rest of the squad.
Mourinho will be hoping no more of his players suffer injuries while away on international duty this week.
Marouane Fellaini, who has only just returned from injury, was left out of Belgium’s friendlies by Roberto Martinez, much to Mourinho’s relief.
“He needs a proper 10 days work with no game in order for him to be fully fit,” Martinez said.
“Medically it is the right choice to allow Marouane to get fit. If it had been a competitive game I think we would have called him up because maybe for the second game he could have been on the pitch.
“This is a period where we can afford not to risk him until he is 100 per cent.”
United welcome Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle to Old Trafford on Saturday November 18.
