Real Madrid star Gareth Bale hasn’t played since September

The Portuguese has been a long-term admirer of the Welsh winger and is keen to bring him back to the Premier League to aid their title battle with rivals Manchester City.

And according to the Sunday Mirror, the La Liga giants have revealed that it will take a bid of £85m to tempt him away from the Bernabeu.

It could pave the way for a bidding war from English teams, with former club Tottenham rumoured to want a reunion, while Chelsea have also expressed interest.

The 28-year-old left White Hart Lane four years ago for a then world record fee but has been out of action since September with hamstring and calf troubles.

His injury meant he could only watch as Wales crashed out of the World Cup qualifiers in a 1-0 defeat to Ireland.

Bale isn’t expected to return until the new year and with Real reported to have set aside £200m for a ‘Galactico’ signing in the summer, he may seek pastures new for guaranteed first-team football.

However an English transfer could have repercussions for his buyer.

Real Madrid are interested in David De Gea, Harry Kane and Eden Hazard, so could use Bale as bait in a potential swap deal.
