Manchester United and Arsenal have made an approach to sign Barcelona winger Jose Arnaiz, according to reports in Spain.
The 22-year-old made his first-team debut for Barca earlier this week, finding the net in a 3-0 win over Murcia in the Copa del Rey.
Mundo Deportivo claims that Arnaiz’s agent has already received calls from United, Arsenal and Bayern Munich, with the two Premier League sides believing that the midfielder would be a perfect fit for the Premier League.
The report also claims that Bayern view Arnaiz as a potential long-term replacement for Franck Ribery, who turns 35 next April and is currently sidelined with a knee ligament injury.
Speaking after Arnaiz’s impressive debut, Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde said: ‘He’s a player with self-assuredness.
‘He has the goal in his head. I believed he could help us in this game and that it’s good for them [the B team players] to come and face a situation like this.
‘He scored a great goal, he has a powerful shot. It’s a first step. We’ll see if we can help us more.’
Arnaiz, who has also attracted interest from Juventus and Napoli, has a €20 million [£17.8m] release clause in his current deal with Barca but that will double if he decides to sign a new contract.
Arnaiz joined Barca in the summer after an impressive season at Valladolid in which he scored 12 goals and registered three assists in 35 games.
The left winger signed a three-year contract when he joined Camp Nou in August.
